Galway hosted the final leg of the 2012 Volvo Ocean Race and Inventise were successful in winning the tender to develop the website for the event as well as provide graphic design for all printed media. Almost a million people attended the festival from all over the world with the website being the main source of information for visitors.
The development of the site was quite a challenge due to the diverse amount of content on the site and the fact it had to be able to withstand very large peak loads during the event. In addition, there was a requirement for the site to be highly visual, interactive and engaging. Pages such as Learn the Lingo were required to simplify the process of educating the users in the clearest and most interactive way possible.
